1) 6 pointless, time wasting exercises the Tory & Labour parties want to put the country through before we can start work on #Brexit

There are only 2 options left, May’s deal or Remain. There’s no majority for no deal and no time or appetite for a new negotiation

2) There is only 3 months left and the country is in a state of worry. Despite this, and despite the ticking clock the 2 major parties are insisting on self indulgent frippery and posturing before we can get to the real business of fixing #Brexit

3) Lets take the Tory party. Firstly, they’re about to engage in another Leadership contest. May will probably win this but even if she doesn’t it will consume weeks of time for no purpose because it won’t itself change anything in Brexit. The same issues will exist afterwards

4) Then, once we have the mess of the Tory Leadership sorted, we apparently have to go through the motions of a new Tory Hard Brexiter leader going to the EU27, playing at being the hard man/woman before being sent back with “sorry, we told you, we're not restarting negotiations”

5) But even if May survives, she going to make the country wait up to 5 weeks before her deal can be rejected by Parliament. A self serving desperate survival exercise which does the UK no good

6) 3 pointless exercises in selfish, insular self indulgence which will not move us forward one iota and can only waste precious time. But Labour are just as bad

7) Firstly Labour wants to wait for “just the right moment” to call a Vote of No Confidence in the Government – that moment will never actually arrive because the DUP will never vote with Corbyn but Labour won’t do anything else in the meantime, they'll just sit on their hands

8) If Labour do get the magical no confidence vote, they want a general election which will solve *absolutely nothing* because:
a) They are also pro Brexit
b) The result will likely be a hung Parliament
the polls are split, it's likely nothing will change in Parliament

9) But lets say Labour wins - they *also* want a unicorn deal of
- SM without FoM
- full freedom to nationalise everything
- a veto on trade deals.
There is absolutely no way the EU will even look at a deal like this which is far more than they offered to May

10) Labour's entire strategy is to get a Vote of No Confidence win on a vote they wont call, because they can't win, to get a GE they won't win and don't actually want (why would they want to be in charge now?) to ask for a new Brexit deal they have no chance of getting

11) So that’s 6 time wasting events, a leadership election, a confidence vote followed by a general election, a failed Tory negotiation, a failed Labour negotiation and a dragged out meaningful vote. None of which will help us solve Brexit, all of which eat up precious time

12) But both parties want to move through these pointless exercises just to get to the conclusion we all know is coming, it’s May’s deal or Remain. And they want to do it all when we have 3 months left. It's a monstrous failure of leadership

13) Labour and the Tories are literally as bad as each other – prioritising power and pointless posturing over the good of the country. Both are insisting on wasting time on pointless elections & negotiations that are doomed to fail

14) and meanwhile as a country we have to wait, helplessly, watching the news anxiously and losing money, influence & credibility whilst this pair of juvenile peacocks get these pointless adventures out of their system
