1. The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has notified Congress of its intention to terminate the sanctions imposed on Oleg Deripaska's companies 
2. Deripaska is the CEO of Rusal, the biggest aluminum company in Russia. Ivan Glasenberg, CEO of Glencore, is a nominal control shareholder; sits on the Rusal board. Glencore owns 8.75% in Rusal. Glencore participated in Rosneft privatization in Dec 2016.
3. Here is some lesser known history. In 2005, Deripaska met Dimitri Simes, the president of The Center for the National Interest (formerly, The Nixon Center) The National Interest, to discuss forming a Russian-funded think tank.

4. CNS hosted Trump's first foreign policy speech. Richard Burt helped to draft Trump’s first policy speech at The National Interest in April 2016. He is a member of the Center’s board of directors and the chairman of the advisory council for The National Interest.
5. Burt is also a former member of the senior advisory board of Alfa Bank and currently a Board member of Letter One. Alfa Bank is a part of Alfa Group, financial and industrial consortium created and owned by the Russian oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven.

7. Richard Burt is also an Executive Chairman of Diligence LLC from 2002 to 2007 and a member of Advisory Board. Deripaska’s business partner, Nathaniel Rothschild, owns a stake in Diligence LLC, a Washington-based, private global intelligence firm.
8. Dilligence was reported to offer Deripaska corporate intelligence gathering, the US visa lobbying through considerable GOP connections and, crucially, help in obtaining a $150 million World Bank/European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan.

23. Removal of the sanctions is a number one goal of the Kremlin's foreign policy. It has been at the center of the Trump--Russia investigation and propels the hybrid war against the West. It is why Russia helped to elect Trump. That, and weakening of the NATO/EU.

25. I've been reporting on this hybrid war since 2015 and have been informed by the Russians that they are reading/listening--and not in a friendly manner. I suggest the West starts using critical thinking and listens to the investigative reporters--and acting fast. It's time.
