You misrepresented @nigerianstat It said 23.3% unemployment, not 20.93 million job loss. You are purposely not telling the truth, sir @benmurraybruce it is a shame that our politicians are not known for saying the truth👇.

Next is what the NBS actually says about the rates.
The NBS data released says unemployment ROSE to 20.93 million. How does that equal 20.93 million became unemployed sir @benmurraybruce

Does it mean you didn't understand what the NBS was saying or you just wanted to lie?

What @nigerianstat & @sgyemikale actually says.
According to @nigerianstat "A rise in the unemployment rate is not entirely equivalent to an increase in job losses. Rather, an
increase in unemployment can occur as a result of several reasons, of which loss of an existing job is
just one.
A rise in unemployment generally means the number of people searching for jobs has
increased, which can occur because:
1. people previously outside the labour force (e.g students, housewives etc) have decided to join the
labour force and are now in search of jobs; or
2. people previously working have lost their jobs and are now in search of jobs.
Often, it is a combination of these two."
The NBS shows that the number of people who actually lost their jobs to be 966k while first-time job seekers stood at 8.8 million.
It is not uncommon for people to return to the labour market as the economic outlook began to look better. If people feel they are more likely to get a job, they will go out in search of jobs. It is part of the reason the labour force jumped from 75.94m Q3 2015 to 90.5m Q3, 2018
As the number of people returning to the labour market increases, so will there be an uptick in unemployment if we don't add enough jobs to cover those who are returning.
And I won't be surprised if it is also part of why the unemployment rate went up as jobs were being added. Because more people are joining the labour market than the number of jobs being added.
This is directly from the NBS. Parts of my tweet is "word for word" so as not to misrepresent.
