As 2018 draws to a close, I thought what better way to end this year than with 18 pictures of my favourite meals in #Israel.

1. Hummus!

Well, this is basically our national food after all!
2. This is what they call 'starters' here in Israel.
3. One of my absolute fav foods .. the Sabich!

An Iraqi Jewish deliciousness.
4. If you're in Jerusalem, you MUST go to Harvey's! You won't find better Texas (Kosher) BBQ in this Holy Land or any other for that matter!
5. Shakshuka! A staple Israeli breakfast food with lots of egg and tomato!
6. There's also plenty of healthy options in Israel, with some of the freshest and tastiest fruits you will find!
7. One of my fav places to eat at Shuk HaCarmel is 'Bar Ochel'. Some fantastic grilled items. Also terrific breakfast!
8. Anyone for some fresh warm chocolate Babka from Shuk Mahane Yehuda in Jerusalem?

15. Seriously, the breakfast here in Israel is so fresh and full of variety!

17. If you haven't tried Jachnun, you don't know what you're missing out on! This traditional Yemenite Jewish dish of sweet rolled pastry with some egg, salsa and spice on the side!
18. And last (though in #Israel, you know we go right to left), is my absolute unparalleled unquestionably favourite food?

So whatever your preference, there is something to suit every taste here! So, come, try, eat, be happy!

So, I wrote an article about the horrific #Ofra terror attack in #Israel, incl. PA culpability & int'l community's complicity.

Regrettably, no mainstream EU / US publication was interested. Maybe Jewish lives don't really matter for them?

1. As Israelis, we are a resilient people, and have regrettably experienced more than our fair share of horrific terror attacks. But what happened in the community of Ofra last Sunday 9th December, truly shook us to the core.

Now mourning the death of an incredible man, #NoahKlieger, who just passed away, age 92! Noah was also a dear friend!

This is a short thread about this incredible human being! 1/
Noah was born in Europe, fought in the Underground during WWII, survived Auschwitz (where he became friends with Elie Wiesel), was part of historic Exodus ship and then came to Israel and built his life here. 2/
Noah fought in wars (starting with Israel's War of Independence), became a pioneer journalist with @YediotAhronot (his last article was just 3 days ago) and an educator, speaking out against Antisemitism & leading over 150 delegations to Auschwitz! He always had time for you. 3/

Every time I see Govts honour Fela, I chuckle to myself and wish I could be in the room and ask with the utmost seriousness and stentorian voice of a British parliamentarian:

“are you sir recommending Fela to younger generations as a role model?”

Cos it’s really quite funny.
Fela was a bohemian in the most extreme sense of the word; he deliberately set out at some point in his life to be provocative to every form of societal order and was a big irritant to Govts, especially the military - at the federal and state levels.

He was the “Abami Eda”.
This is a Wikipedia link to his life’s story - at least as publicly put out.

But there are so many stories about Fela that are the stuff of legends tied to his mystique and colourful persona. Link is here to fill in the rest but I’ll chip in a few more.

The #KGB was obsessed with Zionism, believing that "virtually no major negative incidents" occurred without Zionist involvement (p. 243) and only the U.S. was targeted with more active measures (p. 237).
The Soviet Union was key to #Israel's founding (see ), and allowed Soviet Jews to make aliya so it could infiltrate agents into the new state. But within a year, Moscow reversed course, alarmed at Israel's gathering links to the United States.
An early problem for U.S.S.R. was that Stalin's antisemitic purge turned #Israel's public opinion. The residency wasn't allowed to say that, though. So the anti-Soviet "hysteria" was put down to a nefarious Israeli plot to get close to the Americans and subvert the Soviet Bloc.

Just to state the obvious: This is largest confrontation between #Israel and #Syria since 1973; the first time #Iran and the IRGC themselves launched missiles at #Israel. Expect even more.
With all the targeting in Damascus #Syria, expect #Israel to go after the main IRGC headquarters near the Damascus Airport. Around 1,000 IRGC tend to be stationed there, along with senior leadership.
Suggestion: If you thought what the US did in response to the April CW attack in #Syria was strong, fasten your seat belts.
