People can be stupid, stubborn and malleable, can be easily bored with detail & complexity and be susceptible to populists & easy answers

It's happened before in history, it will happen again

What do you suggest we do about it?
Your position has become "people voted for this therefore we must now accept it"

Therefore any majority vote, on any premise (hanging, expulsion of minorities, sterilisation of the homeless) must be accepted?

What a ridiculous argument

#Brexit is wrong & misguided
It was wrong when 52% voted for it, it would still be wrong if 92% voted for it.

People with adult belief systems fight for what they believe to be right, not what is popular

This #Brexit chaos is the fault of literally everyone other than the brexiters like Lord Digby "not a single job lost" Jones who promised Brexit would be easy....

There was no plan, by design & as a matter of policy from Brexit leaders, in order to get the widest support
I mean how, seriously, how does anyone pivot from "yes, #Brexit will be easy and painless" to "it's everyone else's fault that Brexit is hard and painful" and have any sense of integrity or honour?

IF we've been bullied (and we haven't by the way, it's the argument of a 5 year old) it's because people like Digby Jones put us in a weakened position by saying we held all the cards when we clearly didnt

These people have no shame, it's unbelievable

1) All you need to know about Corbyn's integrity is this:
He was a life long eurosceptic
Under pressure from MPs he agreed to flip to Remain to save his skin after his shock leadership win

But now that he's secured Labour he wants #Brexit & he's not letting go
2) Corbyn's principles lasted right up until his shadow cab. came to him & said "campaign for Remain or we're resigning"

His entire leadership is defined by that half hearted flip to Remain

that he took the votes of young, enthusiastic Remainers makes it all the more sickening
3) Principles & integrity is easy when you're not put under pressure

Probably the one time in Corbyn's political career when he had to choose between ego and beliefs

And he failed, miserably

When it counted he chose Ego

And we're all paying the price

Our MPs are mostly a craven shower who are avoiding reality

These are 2 distinct issues - the latter failure does not make the former disaster OK
@DPJHodges 3) by all means point out the cowardice of every MP who is not a #PeoplesVote or No deal supporter (ie most of Labour & Tory parties)

But stop throwing your toys out of the pram shouting "right give them #brexit good & hard, that'll learn 'em", it's ridiculous

The conventional approach is that India is a complex country that requires complex solutions. Complexity theory implies exactly the opposite. Only simple policies, frameworks and institutions can function in India. Leave complex solutions to Singapore 2/n
Another implication of Complexity theory is the 80:20 rule (or some version of it). A 20% solution will often solve 80% of the problem. In many situations, one should leave it at that as further interventions will have unintended consequences & render the system unworkable 3/n

That Instagram influencer I occasionally check in on because she's The Worst is now charging $165 for a 4 hour "seminar" on how to be yourself.
Important update: Said "influencer" just put down a deposit on a venue for her "seminar" and is conveniently upping the number of available spots for attendees. Methinks she just realized how pricey her scam was going to be and is now trying to widen those profit margins.
Further update: The "influencer" sold out her seminars! So she's netting a gross profit of like $15k (more than my annual wage), so pardon me if I spend today feeling like hard work and talent are a tad pointless.

The 1st half is solely focused on the evolution of investment management through the last 4 millennia.

And rightly so. Because #history matters.

Investing as we know it today did not exist before the stock market crash of 1929 & the Great Depression that followed.

Slack regulations, inadequate company disclosures & the general inability to systematically analyse investments kept most investors out of the market.
This state of affairs, however, was soon changed by gurus like Graham, Dodd, Markowitz, Sharpe, Burr, Ross, & others who provided a systematic framework to analyse securities, define risk, & efficiently manage portfolios.

Before we all jump all over Trump for this ignorant tweet, you have to remember — he is one of the very dumbest people in America.
I’m kind of not kidding with this. He’s extraordinarily dumb. He just also happens to be the President. (It’s happened before!) So when he says something dumb I don’t necessarily think we should all freak out. We should first remember, “Oh right — he’s improbably stupid.”
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue to comment on his spectacular ignorance. Of course we should. I’m just saying we shouldn’t lose our minds and freak out — the stupidity should be expected. Is all I’m saying.

People confuse decentralization as a governance goal, and decentralized computing as an implementation choice.

You can use decentralized protocols to build highly centralized power structures, and inversely you can use centralized tools to build orgs where power is distributed
Another common misconception is that open source projects are examples of successful distributed governance. Most successful OSS projects are organized like companies, with decision-making concentrated in a few people
One more misconception: that decentralized governance is inherently better. It's a complicated problem (see cybernetics) and there are no easy answers for large orgs. For small orgs, central power works best in practice (i.e. modern management best practices work well)
