There's everything progressive about calling out occupation, apartheid, war crimes, institutional inequality, and the institutional denial of the rights of another people though
Also while at it, no state has an inherent right to exist. States, and all collective entities, have no fundamental rights. Only human beings have fundamental rights. Classical liberals should know this better than most. Only human beings have inalienable rights.
This so-called "state's rights to exist" is actually the right of individuals to declare a state - also known as the right to self determination. You know, the right that my people have been systematically denied by, well, Israel.
But if we are to probe that exercise of the right to self determination by which the state of Israel came to be, then we are faced with tough questions about what right they had to declare an ethnic state on a strip of land that has historically been among the most diverse.
I can easily expand this into an essay, but let's just say this: It's one thing to say that you belong to the land. It's completely another to say that the land belongs to you, and only to you.
