I'm not really sure why anyone is surprised. What we have seen with @bchyro has already played out in an identical fashion in Germany, Denmark, California and Hawaii all locales where #climatechhange laws have required governments to pile on intermittent renewables #bcpoli
As you pile on intermittent renewable installations the cost of producing that energy goes up (as the best location are used and marginal locations are required) and the value of the produced energy goes down (as intermittents all produce at same time). #bcpoli @nbennett_biv
So if you want to depend on intermittent renewables then someone has to subsidize the producers be it the public (in the form of higher rates) or the governmenal institutions (either the utilities or the gov't). In BC we chose to put the cost on the utility #bcpoli @Bernardo1130
