Thread on Stanley Fischer, who's mentioned in this Grassley letter to Mnuchin.

Stanley Fischer was Federal Reserve Vice Chairman in 2015 when he met w/ Russians Maria Butina & Alexander Torshin and Nathan Sheets, then-Treasury undersecretary for international affairs

#Spygate
Fischer previously served as Governor of Bank of Israel 2005 to 2013
and Chief economist World Bank

Obama nominated him for Vice-Chair of the Fed on January 10, 2014

Fischer announced his resignation on September 6, 2017 for "personal reasons" (uh huh)

Fischer had already previously served as Vice Chairman of Citigroup, President of Citigroup International, and Head of the Public Sector Client Group.

He also stepped down as governor of the Bank of Israel on June 30, 2013, halfway into his 2nd term.
Here's the announcement of his resignation on the Fed's website:

Stanley Fischer submits resignation as a member of the Board of Governors, effective on or around October 13, 2017

Here's a copy of his resignation letter to President #Trump:

Though he grew up in Zambia and Rhodesia, per this article, Fischer seems to have had a lot of "influence" from the UK.

“I am a product of the British empire, there is no question about it,”

He was also part of the anti-Trump echo chamber parroting phrases such as "extremely dangerous." LOLOL
Fischer was also no fan of #Brexit
Fischer is another who was more worried about #China and what Trump's "trade war" would do to the "global" economy.

Here Fischer comes up in a Wikileaks/Stratfor cable:

June 11, 2011

"Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer has filed a bid to
become the next head of the International Monetary Fund"

wikileaks.org/gifiles/docs/3…
Wikileaks cable Nov 17, 2008:

2 Israeli banks wanted to terminate banking services for Gaza branches of Palestinian banks and it looks like they wanted Fischer to try to stop it b/c they though Gaza banks would fail and would strengthen Hamas.

Here's an article about more Wikileaks/Fischer cables where it appears US Embassy officials were putting pressure on Fischer to prevent the Gaza/Palestinian banks from failing.

Looks like Fischer also tried to get Russia and China not to do business with #Iran.

Right before he resigned from Bank of Israel, though, he thought sanctions against Iran wouldn't be enough to collapse their economy.

Stanley Fischer is also a member of the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations). He joined in 1994 and became a "Distinguished Fellow" on September 3, 2013, per this CFR announcement:

cfr.org/news-releases/…
It seems that the CFR, Bloomber, NYT, and other usual liberal outlets were gushing over Stanley Fischer being Obama's pick as Vice Chair of the Fed.

Fischer also wasn't happy with Trump's plans of de-regulation, which included the financial industry, and Trump's appointment of Randal Quarles, who also agreed with bank de-regulation.

You know, the bank and financial regulations, like #DoddFrank that actually made the #BigBanks "too big to fail."

And the #CFPB in Dodd Frank, set up by Elizabeth Warren to have NO congressional oversight and was used to funnel money to progressive orgs.
