X : Are there alternatives to the x-axis of a map?
Me : There are different terms for each of the forms of capital. Or you can mix and match, e.g. for mapping ethics or the law then the following might be useful. Personally, I just use activities to describe stage I to IV.
X : How do I determine how evolved something is?
Me : That's a matter of discussion with others, the use of the cheat sheet (attached) and comparison to many other maps. It's an imperfect process but useful in its own right.
... mapping is not really a solo activity, it's most effective when done with others. Also, it's not possible to create a perfect map, so don't worry about that. Finally, it's not a one off exercise but a continual process of observation.
