**Picture exclusive**

Trump and Farage met in Washington earlier this month and discussed Brexit.

Farage urged the US president to support a no deal, saying that like in North Korea talks you need to know when to walk.

Farage and Trump met at CPAC, the big annual Washington conference for the Right, on Saturday March 2.

That was just after Trump’s talks with Kim Jong-un in Hanoi had collapsed without an agreement.
Farage tells @Telegraph: “I said in the case of Vietnam that no deal was better than a bad deal and I gave my opinion that the same principle applied to Brexit.”

Won’t reveal whether Trump agreed, but says doesn’t take much “reading between the lines” to work out the US stance.
Trump has been critical of May’s Brexit plan on the grounds that it limits scope for US-UK free trade but not yet come all out for no deal.

Doing so would be a blow for PM.
Farage’s Trump meeting a) shows the access he has, however brief. Foreign Sec doesn’t meet Trump when he comes to Washington.

And b) reflects how hard Brexiteers are shaping Trump’s thinking. Bolton, Woody Johnson, Bannon all strong Eurosceptics according to sources.

BREAKING: White House whistleblower reveals 25 officials denied security clearance had decision overturned under Trump.

Quick thoughts on Mueller report

1/ No more indictments = good new for White House. All that talk of other members of Trump world getting hit by Mueller is done.
2/ A massive row with Congress is coming. Democrats will want the underlying evidence sitting below the report. Whatever Attorney General hands over is unlikely to be enough.
3/ This Is Not The End. While Mueller is done, other federal prosecutors continue to investigate. NY looking at hush money payments, insurance schemes. Those lines of inquiry are independent of Mueller.

Trump has appeared to scrap sanctions his own admin brought in just 24 hours ago. Bolton had praised the "important actions", Mnuchin said it would deter "illicit trade". Like governing through the looking glass.
This whole episode will reinforce suspicion that Trump’s negotiators can’t really speak for him in talks - which makes getting progress tricky.(Why believe what they say at the table if no guarantee the president agrees.)
Working theory - Trump has seen Pyongyang’s actions today (walking out of inter-Korean liaison office) and decided to deescalate.

The increased support for a ‘no deal’ Brexit is the ultimate failure of the Leave movement. It’s the inevitable consequence of the refusal to grasp details, come to terms with complexity & coalesce around a plan. Compromise can be frustrating. So instead they will have a tantrum.
Some Brexiteers advocated sensible solutions. The EFTA/EEA solution gained a lot of traction in the years before the ref. Even Farage had promoted it & countless others. See Farage below from 2011 essentially making the ‘Liberal Leave’ case!

BREXIT PREDICTION THREAD: 1/ #BREXIT
2/ Mrs May will not be able to get the backstop removed from the WA. She will however get some additional promises and clarifications from the EU.
3/ This will not be enough to satisfy the DUP (what would be?) but many MPs, worried about impending no-deal brexit, will vote in favour of Mrs May's deal.
