THREAD: Religion and Finance: PART 4 - THE VALUE OF FAITH (10 QUESTIONS & CLARIFICATIONS).
This has been a tough series that I hope has raised questions in your minds and caused you to rethink some truisms. I will use this final section to clarify some issues and answer some questions I have been asked since the series started.

Let's go.
Q1. Are you a religious person?
Yes. I am a Christian. My faith is important to me and I derive immense value and virtue from my belief system. I am also very pragmatic and may have pushed some ideas too strongly. For that I apologize to anyone who may have felt slighted.
Q2: Do you think that religion produces poverty?
No. But I believe that the primary role of religion is the transformation of the heart, not the enrichment of the pocket. I believe that people who flip that equation are doing a disservice to their faith.

Heart NOT pocket.
Q3 Are all pastors deceitful and manipulative on finance?
NO. Some of the wisest and nicest human beings I know are pastors. @PastorBank has been my mentor for 10 years, I admire @sam_adeyemi from a distance. @pastorbolaji is loaded and grounded. @dagboade is a good friend.
Q3 Are all pastors deceitful and manipulative on finance (cont.)?
These guys and many others are "salt of the earth", kind, wise, and knowledgeable people who are focused on helping people. There are some deceitful religious leaders out there. But they are the minority.
Q4. Is it wrong to pay tithe and offering in church?
NO. Giving is one of the ways we demonstrate our faith. It is however not a transactional business model that guarantees wealth and prosperity. I give to serve God and help people; not to access blessings.
Q5: If religion does not promise prosperity, why then should I believe?
Faith that is predicated on finance is not real. It’s a shadow that will blow away with immense wealth or extreme poverty.

Faith is not a business model.
Q6: What are the correlates of religion/religiosity?
1.Health: Religious people are healthier than nonbelievers.
2.Peace and Happiness.
3.Hope for a brighter future.
4.Kindness and Love (measured as Civic Engagement).
Q7.
Are you against Pentecostal Christianity?
NO. I am in favor of any form of Christianity that helps people become better versions of themselves. Pentecostalism is one of the most effective strains of the Christian faith.
Q8: Are you against Prosperity-Gospel Christianity?
YES. Its primary premise is physical – wealth, health, wellness etc. True faith is about things that are not seen. I also agree with J. Lee Grady that it keeps people in poverty and has been abused by many unscrupulous minds
Q9: How then can we become financially successful?
I teach a model called strategic hard work. I don't believe there is a shortcut to success. I believe that the combination of hard work, faith, and financial planning produces the best financial outcome.

Q10? Who are you BTW and what gives you the right to teach this stuff?
I am just a regular guy sharing his opinions. Don’t take them as the gospel fact cos I am human.

Please do NOT take my words for it; search out the truth for yourself.
Thanks for reading my stuff. The fact that you do gives me immense joy and gratification.
