President Trump's businesses are at the center of at least two Justice Department investigations. And they've sprouted a bunch of new entanglements with his administration.
For example, dozens of lobbyists and others who make money influencing the government are paying members of Trump's private clubs, a status that enriches him personally and puts them in close proximity to the president. Some got favorable treatment. usatoday.com/story/news/201…

Before he took office, Trump made 19 promises he said would prevent such entanglements. Two years later - amidst remarkable public scrutiny of his businesses - we still can't tell whether he kept most of them because basic information remains secret.
And government ethics experts said many of the promises the president did keep are meaningless because they didn't insulate the president from potential conflicts. Here's @waltshaub:
