Today is the anniversary of the illegal and ruinous #US invasion of #Iraq. I joined hundreds of thousands who protested it in #NYC and other cities. Remember how #Bush, the CIA, rendition & “confessions” by torture in #Egypt were instrumental. google.com/amp/s/www.nyti… After Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, a Libyan captured in Afghanistan, was rendered by the United States to Egypt in 2002, Egyptian interrogators beat him and subjected him to a “mock burial” by putting him in a cramped box for 17 hours. He fabricated information that Iraq had provided training in chemical and biological weapons to operatives of Al Qaeda.
16yrs later, George W. Bush has since been rehabilitated out of the war criminal he is & into a cuddly artist grandpa, and several of his war administration, instead of being held accountable for war crimes in #Iraq, continue drumming war for Trump or on Twitter play “Resistance”
Trump is a continuation, not an aberration. The roots that brought him to fruition are much deeper than the Bush administration. Bush launched two wars against Muslim majority countries. Obama left office with the US militarily involved in at least 5 Muslim countries.

2yrs ago as part of Bradford LitFest, I spoke at a girls school. The first girl waiting to talk to me after was a 15yo Muslim girl who told me she was gay & feared her family would kill her if she came out. Schools need more not less classes on LGBT rights bbc.com/news/uk-englan…
I asked @ImaanLGBTQ how best to help the 15yo girl and they sent me info on a programme for LGBT youth in her area. I am glad to see more Muslim LGBT groups in the UK and in North America.
Young #LGBTQ Muslims must not be abandoned to the homophobia of the parents who have succeeded in canceling the classes nor to the racist and Islamophobic backlash that will invariably jump onto this as another reason to bash on Muslims.

On 10/31/17, a terrorist from Uzbekistan (Khazakstan) killed 8 and injured 11 only 5 blocks from the new WTC. So if he died too, that’s 9 dead, 11 injured. In the biggest attack on NYC since 9/11.

Yesterday I created a thread in which my objective was to point out my horrible experience at the @DeptVetAffairs office when I returned back, for mid-tour leave, from combat operation in #Iraq. Mind you, this was Feb 2005.
I couldn't believe how I was treated! I was sobbing uncontrollably, shaking, & suicidal. I wanted to end it! No more pain! And then to top it off, we were escorted off of VA property because my brother was shouting at the VA staff as to why they weren't going to help me.
Although the point was well received by 99% of you, after reviewing the thread, I realized how selfish it was. I used "I" when I should've been using "WE". I was NEVER alone throughout my combat tours. Deployed troops bond, show esprit de corps, and latch onto one another.
