Months after @JKhashoggi's murder, Arabic Twitter is still a sewer presided over by MBS's troll masters. Nothing has changed, in fact things have only gotten worse.
With things only getting worse, I won't be going back to tweeting in Arabic anytime soon. Arabic Twitter is owned by MBS now. It's not that @Twitter lost the battle, it's that it wasn't in it to begin with.
Arabic Twitter isn't a social medium any more. Arabic Twitter is the propaganda arm of MBS's media operations, and his prime weapon of social control, intimidating opponents, and delivering threats.
If you're a social media company in 2019 then your mantra is "Don't be Facebook". Twitter isn't Facebook, but with their complete failure to counter the rife manipulation and weaponization of their platform by the likes of MBS, they're inching towards their own scandal.
The most effective piece of software the MBS uses against his opponents isn't something he bought from a shady Israeli company. It's this. It's @Twitter.
