Netanyahu, who is about to be indicted for corruption by his own Attorney General, is about to get the war he so desperately needs at this point.
Given the depth of legal troubles Netanyahu finds himself in, this time he'll need a longer conflict rather than a short term campaign - but one where Israel has complete hegemony. That means squarely Gaza.
Hamas in all of this is both an enabler and a pawn. They too are subsidised by violence - their approval ratings go up when there's war, and go down when there isn't.
