In the wake of the march and the petition, time for some hard thinking on the remain side. Thread. 1/
For a while it has been clear that there is a big Parliamentary majority against no deal. And a palpable lack of agreement on how that majority should act so as to prevent no deal. 2/
There have been 4 main options; a) to agree the WA; b) to try to agree a different, better, Brexit deal; c) to have a people's vote; and d) to revoke A50. 3/
There is a real danger that the remain side will fail to agree a path forward, and that a lack of agreement on the remain side will result in the UK stumbling towards no deal. 4/
I tried on Friday to explain why I think revoke is the best option (sorry - it is about 2000 words). See legalresearch.blogs.bris.ac.uk/2019/03/the-ca… 5/
In short: the alternatives are worse; the democratic arguments against revoke are hollow; and the potential of revoke and reconsider is misunderstood. 6/
Would be interested to hear others' thoughts. @JolyonMaugham @davidallengreen @GuitarMoog @Sime0nStylites @rolandmcs @chrisgreybrexit. Thanks! 7/7
