Trump’s stated health policies that depend on things in Obamacare

1) Ending the HIV epidemic. The ACA’s Medicaid expansion is a major source of coverage for HIV patients. The ACA also created new protections for patients with HIV/AIDS. nyti.ms/2UX0mIO?smid=n…
2) Lower drug prices. Trump’s health officials are planning to use Medicare’s innovation center to carry out new pilots to lower prices. That center and its sweeping powers were created by Obamacare. politico.com/story/2018/10/…
3) Fighting the opioid crisis. The ACA’s protections and coverage expansion made addiction treatment much more widely available. m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5c…
4) Transforming kidney care. Another priority that would explicitly use powers in the Obamacare-created innovation center. kidney.org/news/hhs-secre…
5) This recently announced plan to rethink emergency care. Again, a plan that explicitly depends on the ACA innovation center.
6) Trump’s repeated pledge to protect patients with preexisting conditions. The ACA includes rules to actually protect those patients; there’s no clear fallback plan if the ACA goes away.
