I'm grateful that journalists and organisations are doing more to ensure better reporting of health data. Two weeks ago, the #NCDCTeam supported the facilitation of a health journalism masterclass. We do this to show our willingness to be held accountable by the public

Over the weekend, we saw a publication stating @NCDCgov has relied solely on funding from @CDCgov since its establishment. This is not true as the Government of Nigeria funds NCDC as a government agency and partners like the US-CDC support

In a recent interview with @THISDAYLIVE, I shared that @NCDCgov definitely needs more funding than we have, to fight infectious diseases. However, I recognise the growth in budgetary allocation since 2016

This week, we will meet with the Senate and House of Reps committees overseeing our work at @NCDCgov. Given their commitment that saw the passage of the #NCDCAct, we will advocate for increased funding to match our increased responsibilities

Our disease data is published on our website every week, we try our best to be responsive to legitimate media and related inquiries. We will continue working to ensure an #OpenNCDC but ask that the media and public avoid #fakenews
