ok let's do a mini #semiotics lesson on Avenatti's Twitter profile (I'm blocked by him 🤣) aka how he wants to be seen by the public.
I want to focus on his header photo and his avi photo.
Let's do his avi first:
The photo is staged to make Avenatti look like a tough fighter.
The American flag in the background is there to show how "patriotic" Avenatti is. The ropes for the boxing ring are there to show that Avenatii may be a fighter, but he's not a dirty no-rules street fighter, he's a nimble boxer who stays within the lines. The "Spalding" and
"GLEASON'S" logos reaffirm his athleticism & "fitness." The watermarks on the image show he's a cheap bastard who wouldn't pay for rights to the photo w/o watermarks. His watch is fully outside of his shirt cuffs, because it shows he's wealthy enough to own a prestigious watch.
His "casual" pose reminds us he's "just a regular guy." The far off stare/lost in thought/looking to the side is likely 2-fold: 1 he likes his profile better than how he looks head-on, and 2 he's got "serious thinking face" on, to convey his commitment to seriousness.
Now onto his header photo. This image shows Avenatti in the big city, because Avenatti wants to be seen as a sophisticated, big-city lawyer. He's outside of what appears to be a federal courthouse. His mouth is open because he wants to be seen as speaking up for the rights of
the people. The cameras and reporter holding the phone convey the message that he is newsworthy and people should be paying attention to him. I don't know who the man in front of him is (I'm bad at recognizing famous people, if that guy is famous), but if anyone knows, tell me!
In both images, Avenatti is wearing blue. This isn't just to highlight his pretty blue eyes (it's partly that), it's also because Avenatti resides on the left tip of the political horseshoe, which means he gotta be wearing blue. Because #Tribalism & #Teams. #SemioticsMatter
Sorry, *Everlast* not Spalding
