While Assange was refusing to publish a trove of leaked documents on Russia’s activities in Ukraine, he was selectively leaking DNC emails designed to hurt Hillary Clinton that Russia had passed onto him after they hacked the DNC’s servers.

Speaking of questionable journalism, Glenn Greenwald no longer believes we should uncritically believe memos from Bill Barr’s Justice Department.
Julian Assange also refused to publish the Panama Papers, claiming they were nothing more than an orchestrated attack on Vladimir Putin. He evoked anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about George Soros in an attempt to discredit them.
Vladimir Putin also claimed the Panama Papers was an attempt to destabilize Russia.

Not only was the Southern Strategy real, but in 1984, one of its architects, future RNC chair Lee Atwater, explained how the GOP moved from direct racist appeals to abstract ones:

“‘We want to cut this (social program) is...a hell of a lot more abstract than ‘N**ger, n**ger.”
This audio recording from 1984 was 1st published by The Nation in 2012. Lee Atwater was working in the Reagan White House at the time, and later became the chairman of the Republican National Committee. The photo in the video shows him with Roger Stone & Paul Manafort.
Lee Atwater was behind the infamously racist “Willie Horton ad” that helped George H. W. Bush win the presidency in 1988.

Rep. David Stringer resigned last week, just before a report surfaced that he was arrested in the 1980s on suspicion of paying children for sex.
In the video, a woman suggests Stringer should ask the speaker about child trafficking; he says he doesn't think sex trafficking is a concern. "I don't like to demonize it” he says, adding that there are "a lot of 15-year-old prostitutes." He laughs after making that comment.

“You cannot indict a sitting president” is nowhere in the Constitution nor law. It’s an opinion first offered up by Richard Nixon’s Department of Justice when he was under criminal investigation & re-affirmed by Bill Clinton’s DoJ when he was under criminal investigation.
Our entire legal theory that a president is above the law & cannot be charged for criminal acts so long as he or she is in office is based on nothing more than the opinions of people who were hired by presidents who had a vested interested in pushing that fiction as legal truth.
As many times as I’ve heard people wax poetic about the intent of the founders that we should have a “president, not a king,” a lot of folks sure are fine with entertaining the notion that presidents ought to have kingly privileges that allow them to live above the law.
