I think it would be useful for major and credible newspapers to make clear to their reporters and the public how they will utilize the content of WikiLeaks stolen emails and information. 1/
Having spent considerable reporting resources on the Russia investigation, they are well aware of the IC finding that Wikileaks is an agent of a Russian power. 2/
I know there was some public soul searching by papers about how they were used to sow the seeds of division in 2016, especially since WikiLeaks favored one candidate over another. 3/
I mean this honestly regardless of “Neera’s mom” controversy. Is anyone of significance in these organizations setting standards (in same way they are effectively doing stories on Facebook for failing to do same) for use of stolen content that is released to favor one party. 4/
Anyway I know their national security reporters are well aware that Wikileaks intended to use these newspapers. And I just haven’t seen anything that sets standards about how to avoid being an unwitting asset. 5/
They should. To protect the First Amendment. Not stifle it. 6/6
