@RemainiacsCast Hi @RemainiacsCast I’m hoping you and your listeners can help think this through. It seems to me there is a basic failure of logic here. If the idea is to maximise the Remain vote then the final objective is the highest number of votes for Green + LD + CUK.
@RemainiacsCast But our job as political parties is to offer different visions of Europe. After all, if we’re successful in stopping Brexit, these MEPs will represent us for five years. It matters how they will vote and what they will negotiate for in that time.
@RemainiacsCast I’m also concerned that we shouldn’t fall into the populist trap of binary political divisions that got us into this mess in the first place. That’s the route of populism and removes the nuance from politics that allows democracy to thrive.
@RemainiacsCast It Remain supporters want to get involved in the minutiae of D’Hondt - and that’s tricky when polls are swinging and data doesn’t break down according to EU regions - then their best bet is to endorse the strongest unequivocally Remain party in each region.
@RemainiacsCast But a much more useful way to spend time is to ensure that non-UK EU citizens and younger people are on the electoral roll, know that they can vote in European Elections soon, and that they do eventually vote
