Pandurang Kane was notable Indologist and Sanskrit scholar. He received Bharat Ratna in 1963 for his scholarly work that spanned more than 40 years of active research that resulted in 6500 pages of History of Dharmaśāstra.

Today is his 139th Janmatithi.

Pandurang Vaman Kane was one of the students of R.G. Bhandarkar and a cofounder of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute in 1917 in #Pune.
