We can have a UK-EU deal after leaving with no-deal (or the EU will shift red lines) or as Farage said yesterday "They'll come running".

Sorry the EU doesn't work like that - and it was those who campaigned for Brexit who always said so
Who said "EU trade representatives have to deal with an unresponsive 1950s bureaucracy and 28 sets of competing special interests. This undermines the EU’s ability to strike trade deals"? Vote Leave.

And yes leaving with no deal has an immediate economic impact, as barriers rise on perhaps 60% of our trade. That's not corporate special interests, that's peoples jobs.
Also in no-deal, Northern Ireland gets treated differently to the rest of the UK. So the very reason the DUP voted against the Withdrawal Agreement happens anyway. No-deal is not and never was a sensible option. gov.uk/guidance/eu-ex…

Trump's hardline anti-trade instincts seem to be to the fore right now. Suffice to say there won't be such deals in the next six months but by then he might be distracted by something else
Both this UK Government and the leading Brexiteers outside it have anchored their entire trade strategy around an agreement with the US, driven in part by a large amount of lobbying money. It looks however increasingly politically questionable.
Back to the US, the timing and manner of the latest Huawei restriction suggests this is rather more about commerce than security. ft.com/content/ea36fa…

The continued ambiguity that Fox cannot properly answer on a UK US trade deal. He knows a deal requires we accept US food standards, but tries to explain these are not lower or an animal welfare issue, either of which are questionable.
Meanwhile popular opinion and his Parliamentary colleagues are convinced US food equals lower standards. Meanwhile most businesses are unconvinced anyway about potential gains from a UK US trade deal.
Given Trump's US first and only trade policy, and the danger of raising trade barriers with the EU, an FTA with the US still looks like the wrong approach, smaller agreements the way forward. But this goes against the strong IEA etc lobby to attack EU food rules...

Yup, last throw of the dice for May as PM one would think. But in reality quite possible this vote doesn't in fact happen, to prevent further humiliation. Because barring some almighty change, it isn't passing.
Conservative leadership contest then, in which candidates will make undeliverable promises about making the EU change the Irish backstop, and continue to try to pretend the problem away. The party is leaning no-deal but there's still no majority for that...
Basically we're heading towards an October showdown, will the EU extend again (possible not certain), will a new PM try to overrule Parliament to go no-deal (tricky), new election (quite possible, but risky)... etc.

Michel Barnier has given interview to several European papers. He says the backstop is not the central issue in Brexit deadlock. He blames a debate on what kind of country UK wants to be in future. He insists that backstop is only way to prevent hard border on table.

Amid reports that #UK PM @theresa_may hopes to renegotiate the "backstop" provision on the Northern Ireland border, let's recall that she already made clear what she wants in her letter to #EU leaders before disastrously losing the #Brexit Withdrawal Treaty ratification vote. 1/
"This could be mitigated by changes to the backstop itself," she wrote to @eucopresident & @JunckerEU "Proposals for a way in which the UK could choose to exit the backstop unilaterally were it ever to come into force, or for a hard time limit... 2/
on the duration of the usage of the backstop, have been raised and discussed in Parliament. We have also raised them previously in negotiations." So there are her proposals, i.e. the EU should basically just cave on backstop in face of House of Commons defeat. But but but ... 3/
