Today, @AP makes an important update to our Stylebook -- adding a new chapter on polls and surveys.

The headline: "poll results that seek to preview the outcome of an election must never be the lead, headline or single subject of any story.”

A good pre-election poll can provide solid insight into what voters are thinking.

In the heat of a campaign, that’s why they are so often intoxicating.
But the 2016 election was a reminder that polls aren’t perfect. They’re unquestionably a piece of the story, but never the whole story.

The Stylebook update aims to serve as a steady reminder of that fact.

CIA’s mission & the safety of the men & women who contribute to it will always require certain information to be #classified.

The key is there needs to be a real, identifiable, justifiable reason why that fact, that method, or that source needs to remain secret.

One week ago, #thisisourlane exploded on Twitter. At the request of may, here's a tweetatorial to address some of the most common questions and answers about the epidemic of #gunviolence - why it matters to docs - and what we can do about it:
***Q1: What are the patterns of #gunviolence injury and death in the US? ***

A: 100 people die and 200 are injured each day across the US. Most deaths (~2/3) are suicide; these are mostly white middle-aged men from rural areas.
Approximately 30% are homicides: mostly young minority men from inner cities. The rest are accidental and mass shootings.

#DomesticViolence deaths from firearm injury are estimated at ~50/month.

And firearm injury is the 2nd leading cause of death for American youth.

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
