1/ Practical examples of a bankrupt health system # 109838: I got indigestion. Something at dinner upset my digestive system and I feel like a puffer fish.
2/ All I would need to do is go to the pharmacy and get a bottle of bromopride, a completely harmless drug. But, wait! It's prescription only in the USA! Why? Because it's addictive? Potentially dangerous? No!
3/ Just to fuck with you. That way you either feel miserable like a puffer-fish the rest of the evening or you go to the ER, where you pay about $600 to step on the door. Good chances the physician will be confused (bad medical education).

When I was raped a few years ago, I was terrified I would get pregnant by the brutal monster who left me so injured and nearly killed me. I knew I couldn't have an abortion for many reasons, including a dead child.

BUT THE OPTION EXISTED.

It won't for the women of Ohio.

The #OhioHeartbeatBill just passed by the nearly 80% male Ohio legislature doesn't offer choices.
It tells women they are murderers.
No one is choosing #abortion without thinking.
And it doesn't matter HOW women get pregnant--it's if they can BE pregnant.

Sometimes you can't BE pregnant at the time you ARE pregnant.
This is something no man can understand and it's why we need women in political office for representation.
It's also why we need #abortion to be legal, safe and accessible.

Because women's lives are at stake.

Last night I promised a thread about #abortion before Roe v Wade legalized it nationally. Until the mid-1800s, common law allowed abortion until "quickening", when fetal movement can be felt. Toxic abortion remedies & doctors competing w midwives led to… 1/
laws outlawing abortion except where pregnancy was likely to be fatal spreading across the country. Bottled abortion remedies could be and were fatal, and doctors, almost all white and male, didn't want midwives competing with them for pregnancy care. 2/

We really need to talk more about #abortion as an option for women.
It's hard to say this and hard to hear it for many, but just because you discover you are pregnant doesn't mean you must carry that pregnancy to term. Your decision will last the rest of your life--and the rest of the life of any child you decide to carry to term.

And no, I am not advocating #abortion.
I'm advocating thinking about parenthood & all it entails.
Because once you have a child, you can't just walk away from that life.
And women/girls are talked into maintaining pregnancies every day.
More discussion would change that.
