1/ Some will think the first 3 parts of the headline in my preceding tweet are Nadler being "political," while his words on impeachment are him being "sensible." It's the reverse: he's merely stating facts about Trump's conduct, and slow-walking impeachment for political reasons.
2/ The worst part is how this interview will be covered (or already is being covered—just look at the headline CNBC gave it). Clearly US media takes *facts* about Trump's collusion and treats them as *rhetoric*, and takes a *political calculation* on impeachment as *earnestness*.

A lesson we'll relearn via Trump-Russia—too late—is one also learned post-9/11: the US intel community withholds info from us for institutional reasons not always in America's interest. 7 allied intel agencies told the FBI of Trump-Russia contacts—*that's* why the CI probe began.
1/ The *only* reason Barr can start a third—third!—DOJ probe into the beginning of the counterintelligence probe of several Trump advisers (Page, Manafort, Flynn, Papadopoulos) is because the FBI won't just *clearly state* it had *ample* early-2016 intel about Trump-Russia ties.
2/ What's so crazy about this is that *major media reporting* already establishes that that information existed. But DOJ and CIA policies about commenting on ongoing probes mean that Barr gets to *benefit from the silence of his own branch of government* to create a fake scandal.

American media decided that Trump secretly negotiating a Russian business deal that required Putin's approval while setting Russia policy during the 2016 campaign wasn't "collusion" broadly writ. Mueller didn't decide that; American voters didn't decide that; the media did. Why?
1/ Any American who a) had looked up "collusion" in a dictionary, b) had read the Mueller Report, and c) ran a U.S. newsroom, would've told his/her reporters and anchors that it was their journalistic obligation to report that "collusion" had been proven. That didn't happen. Why?
2/ Do we really think U.S. journalism doesn't believe "collusion," broadly writ, has been proven? Some panelists—even some anchors—say it. But there's no consistent message that this *happened*. Why? They don't want to lose any conservative viewers living in an alternate reality.

How has no one pointed out to him that he's literally the most widely cited source in American life, whether for political news or anything else, and that a painstaking professional assessment of the veracity of his sourcing reveals that he has told 10,100 lies in just 26 months?
1/ Moreover, I'd argue Trump is the most widely cited source of ANONYMOUS SOURCING in American life, whether for political news or anything else, given how often he works into sentences "people say" or "many believe"... how do people not remind him that that's ANONYMOUS SOURCING?
2/ Media could stop this grotesque roadshow by asking Trump, EVERY TIME he says "many will tell you" or "people are saying" or "I've heard from many folks," "Mr. President, you just cited anonymous sources—can you tell us the identities of your anonymous sources?" But they don't.
