Here is how Ford & Scheer's plans fit together. Ford is making significant cuts to public education. Increasing class size, eliminating specialty courses, gutting school capital programmes & destroying the cities ability to supplement funding by wiping out development charges/a
Scheer follows with tax credit for private schools. If public education is decimated & you decide to send your kids to private school Scheer will cut your income tax. Effectively redirecting Funds from public system to private one & reduces Fed Revenue & kick starts other cuts/2
Ford & Scheers plan work the same way on many fronts, Public Health cuts reduce harm reduction programmes, Federal support is no longer drawn into cities, capital for housing removed by planning changes & suddenly cities don't have funds to access National Housing Strategy /3
Ford & Scheer are all set to tag team on Culture & Universities too. Fed programmes match Prov/Terr spending . When Prov pull back & cancel research from tech to stem cell, on OCAD & Francophone University Federal funds cut themselves unless a national government is steadfast/4
The Ford & Scheer strategy will play out in Alta, Man, Sask and elsewhere. Prov that push back like BC & Nova Scotia will be blamed and those govt will struggle as cuts by stealth undermine capacity to deliver service. Large cities will be targeted. Its happening now. /5
The Ford & Scheer strategy shares another characteristic: No Election Platform. Anger at the incumbent is THE tactic just add a few feel good slogans that mean nothing but are easy to advertise. New populism aims to make everything else more. unpopular. The result: no one cares/6
