Wrong interpretation. Lots of *projection*. Coats is rightly assuring the aggregate intelligence community that standards of intelligence source protection remain a priority. And simultaneously tamping-down the current Democrat narrative of fear.

ODNI Dan Coats and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers worked together throughout 2017.

It was Dan Coats who worked with Rogers to delete all political search results from the NSA database; and Dan Coats who worked with Rogers to retain the audit log of all the search inquires. [Coats is custodian to the Obama FISA-702 search abuse audit trail]

Coats also worked with Rogers to restructure the stewardship of the NSA database and implement a full combatant command for Cyber Command.

Coats was the person who unilaterally declassified the Rosemary Collyer FISC report; making the most explosive evidence of weaponized intelligence and surveillance abuse public in April 2017.

Without Dan Coats (independent decision) we don't get this:

Coat's is telling the aggregate intelligence apparatus (and politically toward the media): "Settle down, Barr's got this.... all good" etc.

And don't forget..... Coats was the guy who made the FISA Application public.

So if all of that makes Dan Coats the guy intending to hide all the deep state intelligence corruption, he's not very good at it.

Instead, former Senator Dan Coats appears like a guy who is open to exposing corruption & intelligence abuse, yet simultaneously worrying about what wholesale collapse of trust in the intel apparatus might mean in big picture.
