The front page of the Times of Israel is a good snapshot. The country is apparently under assault from balloons, fertilizer and consumer drones. timesofisrael.com/liveblog-june-…
Israel bombs an office building in Gaza used by computers and hackers. thehackernews.com/2019/05/israel…
Israel uses consumer drones to drop tear gas on protestors and increasingly uses commercial drones for military, intel or police actions. ISIS and other islamist groups continue to develop weaponized consumer drones and tech to fight conflicts. calcalistech.com/ctech/articles…
Drones and hackers are the equivalent of military contractors that remove liability and allow false flag operations. Add to this deep fakes, outside political meddling, slow social media comprehension and the next World War could be completely fake.
Add decentralization and outsourcing to this proxy approach and you could have kids in India working for Russian shell corporations funding terror cels recruiting kids with stolen weapons fighting wars against corporations. Look at Northern Mozambique. hrw.org/news/2019/02/2…
ISIS has claimed Cabo Delgado but we are seeing unknown, confusing or deliberately false attacks in the UAE, Yemen, Lebanon, Sri Lanka and other countries which have no over arching political or social intent. Just Maoist style #fuckery designed to destroy structure and order.
Imagine if Russia, China, Iran or the even the cartels invested in hijacking U.S. or European cities? Which would have more impact? A weaponized consumer drone or an stolen NSA hack? Better yet...why not both? This is the future of war. wsj.com/articles/u-s-c…
The major media outlets no longer covers "dirty" or proxy wars if the U.S. is not involved. We insist on linking these wars in Yemen, Somalia, Sudan etc back to bigger older players. Special interest groups and NGOs provide most of the coverage we see.
What is worse, if there is coverage, it is left to what I like to call "child media" via outlets like Vice or stringers with an average age in their mid 20's, most of whom get access via embeds not via enterprise reporting from both sides. epsusa.org/publications/p…
I set up ground networks using local sources, reporters and researchers spoked into and PhD level hub editors to triangulate news and make non partisan sense of events on the ground. Which is why the CIA helped to put me on the front page of the NYTimes. nytimes.com/2010/03/15/wor…
We operated for over a year with 1200 local sources in Afghanistan and the tribal areas. The CIA had no idea. Our goal was to protect U.S. troops, wind down conflict and provide solutions to problems including roundups of local media and reports.Same in Libya, Somalia and others.
The idea is provide data, insights and relationships that can forge, clarify and test ideas to reduce conflict. An idea that is diametrically opposed to the new trend in disinformation and media manipulation. Something completely out of lockstep with current political trends.
