If this had happened, would it have respected vote to leave?

Party X elected with a manifesto saying definite Brexit.

X then announce Brexit delayed till the 2nd term for... reasons.

X lose next election to party Y.

Y stops Brexit, which had a mandate before even implemented?
If the answer is yes, then I would suggest that it follows that a confirmatory EU referendum is also respecting democracy, despite Brexit not having been implemented before the new vote.
Assuming NO votes are not people clicking the wrong button this question is to NO voters: Please explain how it isn't respecting democracy?

Substitute some other policy instead of Brexit like privatising the NHS or something you'd vote against. Does that change your vote to YES?
