Every. Gdmf day. ➡️ SS ➡️ Now, the Trump Admin is trying to stop that by implementing “Chained CPI,” limiting future COLA increases.
Can’t string coherent sentence together atm. 🤬
The purpose of the COLA is to ensure that the purchasing power of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits is not eroded by inflation.
By law, it is the official measure used by the Social Security Administration to calculate COLAs.➡️ BY. LAW.
The change means that inflation no longer drains value from Social Security benefits.
Patterns. Like healthcare. They’ll just blow it up any way they can. While gaslighting
About 62 million people, or more than 1 in every 6 U.S. residents, collected Social Security benefits in June 2018. While older Americans make up about 4 in 5 beneficiaries, another one-fifth of beneficiaries received SSDI or were young survivors of deceased workers.

But a higher-than-expected COLA isn't necessarily cause for celebration. That's because if COLA is moving notably higher, the price of goods that seniors are buying is probably rising at a faster pace, too.
COLA isn't designed to help beneficiaries get ahead. It was designed as a tool to keep beneficiaries on par with the rising cost of goods/services. Therefore, a higher COLA doesn't mean "getting ahead" it simply means that beneficiaries are contending with higher inflation.

The price increases come at a time when lawmakers and consumers are increasingly concerned about the escalating cost of medications, which are far outpacing wage growth and the cost of living.
"It's a good that people need, in many cases in order to stay alive," he says. "You have a lot of flexibility to drive prices higher and higher." ➡️ that free market though
🤔 Yet despite insulin's discovery almost a century ago, no generic version of the drug exists, and three manufacturers -- Eli Lilly, Sanofi and Novo Nordisk -- control 99 percent of the market.
