Family Deportations : Since June I’ve been reposting this thread. It appears from @nytimes that these family deportations will now occur Sunday. The substance of concerns and focus (mainly for reporters) remains the same below but one additional point 1/
There is, from a pure operational perspective, no smart reason for the WH or DHS to be doing these deportations this way. Why do they have to be simultaneous? As I describe, all of these families are under deportation orders. Any day, ICE could legitimately deport them. 2/
So why at same time? Why risk it becoming public (it has each time)? Why risk social unrest for your agents? Why maximize numbers and enforcement footprint? These families arent part of conspiracy where they have to be taken down at same time. 3/
From planning perspective, I would want the exact opposite if my goal was to deport these families. Don’t risk disclosure. Don’t welcome unrest. Don’t put agents in harms way. Don’t do it simultaneously, but quietly few families at a time, so the policy doesn’t get exposed. 4/
So maybe, just maybe, the deportations isn’t the point.
It’s all for the show. 5/5
