/ Here are some thoughts. People Say "Heritage, not hate" talking about confederate symbols. So, that means their heritage is being treasonous to the country of which they are now a citizen...
/ Which means they don't like this country (USA). They like a different country - their heritage or country of origin (CSA). This country no longer exists, since it was a loser in a war...
/ These people tout their heritage which means a fundamental dislike of the USA and its tenets like democracy (because why else would the CSA have seceded? other than they didn't like something fundamental about the USA)...
/ Which logically brings me to their own reasoning - if you don't like the USA you should leave it. So, these people become a people without a homeland (since the CSA has been reconquered) and...
/ could be seeking to reside in another country which is willing to welcome them. Perhaps a country more in line with their far right/extremist beliefs (re: LGBTQ+, freedom of the press, militarized police, women's rights, free elections, etc)...
/ will welcome them. Russia could fit the bill. Of course, they would have to contend with the beliefs a country like this might have about refugees. After all, it might be like Trump's/Miller's vision of the USA (zero refugees).
/ To make it easier to facilitate the migration of these refugees, we could concentrate them in temporary holding camps. They could wait there for the asylum/refugee process to go through. Otherwise they might be taking all these jobs from USA citizens.
/ Which I think brings me to the logical conclusion of the "heritage, not hate" argument. We should be concerned for these CSA refugees, and advocating for the creation of camps to help them transition from our country...
/ to one that more closely matches their political/personal beliefs. Of course, if it really is about hate, that also means they hate this country which is founded by immigrants, refugees...
/ and even gold diggers and slave owners. But was made great by diversity and smashing of chains and lifting each other up, allowing for creativity and differences. So once again, the logic of the camps and mass emigration holds.
🤪 That's what wanders through my mind when people make these statements.
