Having health insurance saved me about $149 in medication yesterday and eased the financial blow of an office visit significantly. If I didnt have it as I do now - and boy, have I been there - I would be in a really, really bad spot.
I'm not alone either. I'm one of the lucky ones now, I know that.
It seems really out of wack to me that I even have to say this: No one should have to choose between health care and keeping their lights on.
And worse, one emergency can wreck a persons entire life.
I'm grateful for the health care I have nowadays. I went YEARS with out it. But it made me quite uneasy yesterday at the doctors office as I listened to a mother find out the cost of her baby's visit and then call someone on her cell to ask for a loan to pay for it.
