Again, @BBCNewsnight had a debate premised on the notion "No deal" was previously unthinkable. But "No deal" is just "No Withdrawal Agreement" & virtually no-one had heard of the notion of a "Withdrawal Agreement" before 2018. No-one assumed not having one was unthinkable.
@BBCNewsnight Before the euref I never said or believed a legal "Withdrawal Agreement" was a necessity or a good idea. When the idea emerged, I said we didn't need one & shldn't sign one if it included anything beyond migrant rights. It's just a lie to pretend everyone thought there'd be one.
@BBCNewsnight We don't need a "Withdrawal Agreement" (which is all a "deal" is). We never did. We don't need the EU's permission to leave it. The only "deal" worth having's an FTA, & May's "Withdrawal Agreement" wld not be a price worth paying to get an FTA even if it did so - which it doesn't
