1. Trade War with China
This will be an enduring legacy of Trump. Let us hope Trump succeeds in reigning in China. China has cheated by stealing Western IP, and China has exploited weakness of Western leaders and international systems to amass enormous wealth and power.

2. China on its current course will be militarily unstoppable in a generation or two, and China will not be a benevolent power like the U.S. For the good of humanity, it is important to contain China without provoking an armed conflict, if possible.
3. Trade war with China is not painless for the U.S. The U.S. GDP is definitely going to suffer. However, China is hurt far more than the U.S. And that is the nature of all wars, of any kind. The warring parties all pay a price. I wish there were a better way. There isn't.
4. And here is the thing. I can't think of any president in recent memory, and certainly none of the Democratic presidential candidates on offer, who had or has the grit to contain China the way President Trump seems to. He has had to spend a whole lot of political capital.
5. A good and strict trade deal is necessary but not sufficient. Compliance is key. President Trump needs to win a second term to successfully prosecute the trade war with China. It is essential that he does so.
6. I can't help asking: If not him, who? If not now, when? Time is of the essence. Mr. President, win this one for the sake of humanity. Godspeed, sir!
