Pastor Michael Grady, just talked with Anderson Cooper on @AC360. He was breathtakingly good. His daughter, Michelle, was severely wounded at the WalMart in #ElPasoShooting. She's in critical.
A big man with a generous manner, he spoke about her, his wife, the shooting.

Grady has the imposing manner of a black preacher--you can tell he gives a powerful sermon. Grady also spoke about Trump & how lacking in passion his speech on hate was. He said, "Words matter. How you use your words matters." He said words can be healing, but Trump's weren't.

Grady talked about how there have been no consequences to these shootings. Of Trump he said once words are out there you can't take them back. he said "words of divisiveness and hatred matter. You don't know who will receive them or how they will be received."

Such a critically important point that has been missed. It's not just the words, but who is getting those words.
"You have to filter your words with love. You're the president of ALL the United States. I would share that with [Trump]. I would ask him, what's in your heart?"

Grady said, "I didn't see a real man taking responsibility, saying, 'I've done some things wrong. I've called some countries shithole countries, I've called people aliens and that was wrong.' I would share with him what he has created in the nation this thing, this hatred."

Tremendously powerful and yet so composed, despite his daughter fighting for her life, in and out of consciousness after several surgeries already. It gave some entrée into the harm Trump's words have done and how sweeping their impact. A deeply moving exchange and message.
