[THREAD] I want to tell you about Spelling to Communicate, a method for non-speaking autistic communication that I helped to bring to South Africa along with Nicola Sowah (a speech & language therapist) and Luli Carillo (mother of non-speaking autist Leonardo).
Spelling to Communicate (S2C) teaches individuals with motor and sensory differences the purposeful motor skills necessary to spell to communicate. Motor skills progress along an increasingly complex hierarchy from pointing to letters to typing independently on a keyboard.
The goal is to achieve synchrony between cognition and motor.

@AOC Conversion therapy was turned mainstream first against gay people and then against vulnerable autistic children by Ivar Lovaas. There is still a nationwide multimillion dollar abuse industry sponsored by the US government, based on his work, and autistic people are the victims.

As fallout from a dust-up against shamed pseudoeconomist Nouriel Roubini late last year, @cryptostardust's Twitter account was banned, assumingly from Mr Roubini's disingenuously buttrekt reporting of him. Our community was chagrined.

Aurelian's orig tw was in response to a radical English prof dismissing the Grievance Studies as a mere "fun prank." This reveals why English profs are usually clueless when weighing in on issues outside of ... English. (same thing w/a physicist weighing in on sociology).
No, Grievance Studies (GS) revealed a deep moral/intellectual rot throughout academia.
1. A SLEW of journals published their stuff.
2. Another slew were in various stages of "revise and resubmit."
Know what that meant?

Given that the UK will be days away from leaving the @DSMeu when I deliver one of the lectures... on the #digital #singlemarket it's going to call for some agile teaching because I have no doubt the UK government will still be making it up as they go along as they have thus far.
However, whatever the stress caused by this, my thoughts will be with fellow British lecturers, academics & researchers in the EU27 and EU27 lecturers, academics & researchers in the UK who do not know their future.
