I began tweeting to help a friend last Aug. I never set out to draw attention to myslef. Helping others to learn to trade has always been VIP to me-makes what we do a bit more fulfilling. There isn’t much a trader can go through that I haven’t already gone through.
I started on the CME floor not knowing a soul. I was a runner in lumber out and back month Euro’s. I quickly decided that whatever was going on there, I wanted to be part of it. I began working my way up from runner to head arb clerk for one of the biggest brokers in the Euro pit
I took a 3 yrs off to study for the Catholic Priesthood. Celibacy was not my bag, but service was. I went back to my old job and was married at 28 with my first baby at 29. I got my shot trading then. I bartender 6 nights a week. I worked to learn to trade. Couldn’t figure it out
I took Mickey Hoffman’s Pit Trading course, and soon thereafter met my mentor Judd @whitewavetrader. Without Mickey or Judd I would not have made it. I learned to compete, work and fight like a pit trader from Mick. Judd taught me to “trade any market anywhere, anytime,
On the floor, off the floor”! He taught me the ORB trade. He also taught me to read cap flow! Over the years I learned some about tech analysis and fundamentals. I became a very successful trader and one of the biggest in the NQ pit. I traded all markets then.
Many challenges came down the road, divorce, deaths, illness of children, failure of businesses and failures of a bank. I dealt with them by taking time off, not the time recommended my Mickey or Judd, but did some time away. I also ended up back to basics. That’s what saved me
Back to basics. I went from 100-200 big NQ and 5k-10k minis a day to 2 lots minis on the screen. It was then that I was able to adapt to screen trading. It was just me and my family during this time. Then last Augie, I tweeted to help a pal. Now I hope the help I offer is helpful
Trading is the HARDEST job you or I will ever have. New challenges crop up all the time. Trading is also incredibly rewarding. I have seen much more successful traders then I go into debt many millions because of failure to recognize need for change. Do whatEVER u need to do
To make this work. Capital preservation is at the core of everytrade I make. I learned over the years that every trade has the potential to destroy my career. I have learned to take it one trade at a time. I had to restructure my life to become successful again, but long term
It does not matter of you have a Ferrari and a mansion today. I have seen it hundreds of times. That stuff can go quickly. What does matter, the only thing that matters is what you have when you shut the screens down for the last time!
Keep yourself and your life in balance. Limit your process. Find one that works repeatedly over time and has worked for many others and learn it. Stick with it. Make it your own. Work hard, but work easier! All these things will put you in the best spot to be successful. Cheers!
