Me : Technically, I doubt there is anything wrong. But a Queen's speech could have been organised after the 31st October rather than stifle debate on brexit. Even to a layman this is clearly to the "letter" not the "spirit".
Me : Hmmm ... "‘any act or omission which obstructs or impedes either House of Parliament in the performance of its functions" ... I wouldn't be surprised if the Speaker hits Johnson with a contempt of the house debate. It's going to be interesting.
Me : Is it causing you concern?
X : Yes.
Me : Ah ... another purpose of proroguing is you couldn't bring back the WA in the existing session. A bit of movement by the EC and the WA could be back under a "take it" or "no deal" axe.
Me : It's tricky. It would cause Conservatives trouble with Farage and brexit party. They'd have to paint Boris as the firm but "considerate" PM, buy for time, have a raft of positive & difficult to vote against measures in Queen's speech etc.
Me : A constantly accelerating drip, drip of positive messaging to create a feeling of overwhelming momentum as you build for an election.
X : Is this what's going on?
Me : Only they know. You can never tell - case of cards close to the chest and misdirection.
Me : Oh gosh. My preferred choice was not to hold a referendum but the petition to cancel before the vote got nowhere. So, my reasons are here - blog.gardeviance.org/2016/04/on-eur…
