BREAKING UPDATE: NHC: Hurricane Dorian has become the strongest hurricane in modern records for the northwestern Bahamas, and "catastrophic conditions" are occurring in the Abacos Islands. on.msnbc.com/2zEt6gC
NHC: "On this track, the core of extremely dangerous Hurricane Dorian will continue to move over Great Abaco and move near or over Grand Bahama Island later tonight and Monday. The hurricane should move closer to the Florida east coast late Monday through Tuesday night."

NHC Update, 8am:

Hurricane #Dorian is a powerful Category 4 and has strengthened even more this morning. Sustained winds are now 145 mph, with catastrophic potential for deadly storm surge and heavy rain.

The good news is Dorian should not strengthen further.
Overnight forecast models have continued the trend of stalling the center of #Dorian offshore South Florida, but still close enough to cause destructive coastal flooding.

It's still unknown (unknowable?) if Dorian will make landfall in the United States.
This is not necessarily a reason to cheer. People in the northern Bahamas will get a direct hit.

Everyone from South Florida to the Carolinas should be closely monitoring Dorian and be prepared to evacuate if necessary. Now is the time to ask your neighbors if they need help.

This comes after Gibraltar extended the seizure of Iran's "Grace 1" supertanker for 30 days.
At 15:11 UTC, the ‘Stena Impero’ made a sudden turn, diverting severely off its original course towards Al Jubail in Saudi Arabia.
At 15:59 UTC the tanker turned sharply towards Iran’s Qeshm & Larak islands, last position was at 16:29 UTC.
