The latest figures on terror arrests in Britain have been released

They show there were were 266 arrests for terrorism-related activity in the year to June, down 25% on previous year

45% of suspects were white, 35% Asian, 10% black and 11% of arrests 'other' ethnicity

69% considered themselves to be of British or British
dual nationality

There were falls in the number of arrests across all ethnic groups, continuing a trend in overall decreases since the waves of arrests following the 2017 terror attacks and operations against National Action

39% of those arrested were released on bail or under investigation, 32% were charged, 23% were released without charge and 5% faced alternative action, such as a caution, being recalled to prison or being transferred to immigration authorities

The proportion of white suspects has been greater than Asian suspects for past 12 months, since year ending June 2018

But Islamists still make up 78% of 218 terror convicts in prison. 15% are far-right and 6% other ideologies

To explain these stats further - on arrest, British police do not record ideology but other characteristics including ethnic appearance

It's not until further into investigations that it is recorded, which is why these stats only include ideology for 'terrorist prisoners'

Not all white suspects are white supremacists, and not all Asians Islamists. 39% of arrestees were still under investigation & 23% released without charge
