There isn’t one single comment from an MP (of which there are many) who sees Bercow as having protected the constitutional sovereignty of parliament against an onslaught from an extremist government. There isn’t one quote from a constitutional expert...
There isn’t any balancing editorial about recent gov tricks to try to bypass Parliament, eg longest suspension poss at critical time, trying to make bills unamendable, which led to Bercow’s retaliation on behalf of parliament. No mention of times he ruled in favour of Brexiters
As I always say, I don’t believe the BBC has any organisational political bias, I think this mainly comes down to incompetence. This is just really bad journalism.
For the record, as the story will probably be updated once there’s been enough criticism, here’s the state of it when I commented
And...
It’s just a quick rewrite of Mail on Sunday story, without any effort at actual journalism to get other sources. They unquestioningly maintain Mail’s angle on story.
This kind of ‘reporting’ is what leads people to accuse BBC of bias, because Mail is biased and BBC just amplifies
