Corbyn lies about meeting the IRA Part IIa

Neil: "Did you urge the IRA to stop with the bombs and the bullets?"

Corbyn: "I never met the IRA, I never met the IRA"

Liar.

Thread about Corbyn and his handler, IRA terrorist Gerry MacLochlainn.
Who is Gerry MacLochlainn?

An IRA terrorist he was convicted of 'conspiracy to cause explosion is Luton and elsewhere' in 1980.

While in prison he was supported by the Revolutionary Communist Group (remember them they will turn up in other threads) & others. 2/10
'Irish POW' [terrorist] Gerry was released in November 1983, the RCG and others were there to greet him. [FRFI, Nov 1983]

He of course made his way to Islington where he lived for the next 15 years and became Corbyn's friend and handler. 3/10
There was severe anger in the Commons directed at Corbyn, for inviting two convicted IRA terrorist (Gerry & Linda Quigley) to Parliament.

'Mr Corbyn had met both of the people before... McLoughlin works in the constituency for a community group (part funded by Corbyn). 4/10
The anger was also at the timing of the meeting, just 13 days after the IRA had murdered 5 people (& injured 31), in attempting to assassinate the Cabinet.

It was also planned to coincide with the first anniversary of the IRA bombing of Harrods. 5/10
Corbyn was severely reprimanded by the Labour chief whip Michael Cocks (not for the first or last time).

'in the present climate of opinion this action must be regarded as thoughtlessness of the highest order.' 6/10
The Guardian's [18 Dec 1984, p.10] view of Corbyn:

'Mr Corbyn and sizeable number of other left Labour MPs will... continue their sordid romantic infatuation with the Provisional IRA. 7/10
Mr Corbyn's invitation to 2 convicted terrorists... can be attacked on several grounds. It was a very stupid political gesture from someone who is an elected member of a party opposed to terrorism. It was appallingly timed, so soon after the Brighton hotel bombing.' 8/10
'The right thing for somebody in Mr Corbyn's position to do would have been to spare his party this embarrassment and, even more, to have used his influence to denounce the IRA openly at the time. However, that seems too much to hope.' 9/10
Mr Corbyn was stupid to do what he did when he did in the way that he did... there is a time and a place for everything and Mr Corbyn has little reason to feel proud of his judgement.

part b will show Corbyn's, the Tory's & Unionist's response to him meeting the IRA. 10/10
