Keep in mind, only 10% of our adult population watches the evening network news. FOX News is the highest performing of the cable news outlets, yet just 1% of Americans watch it.

Local news does better-it has weather and crime! If it bleeds it leads!

This represents a BIG CHANGE from our past, when somewhere around 35% of the country's adult population watched 1 of the Big 3 network news. Back then, there was a commonality of information. Now, due to media choice & tech, many people have opted entirely out of news. Keep in
mind, people tell pollsters, TV news is their STILL their preferred method of consuming news. So, if these rates are this bad, imagine print must be worse. And there is social media, which, although algorithm based, is also pushing out sponsored content by media outlets.
So yes, bad to assume average voters are aware of Trump's record beyond the most general platitudes.

Nothing against the rest of this article but this claim

"White, suburban women with college degrees fled the party in droves."

This, we have not been able to quantify.

1. We know that white, college educated millennial white women are not becoming Rs like their moms & thus
the suburbs of America, especially in the South, are becoming more D friendly.

2. We know that in 2018 these voters greatly improved their turnout over the 2014 midterms & 2016 & swung suburb and House seats to the Ds (BTW: I'll soon be adding FL, GA, TX, and AZ to my analysis).
3. We know that some of these non-Republican, white college education women are Democrats, BUT some of them are Indies and some of these Indies voted for the GOP in 2016 but voted for the D House candidates in 2018 (this is @yghitza's "Catalist" study. Keep in mind, this study

My point about voters is that everyone you EVER interact w on political twitter, at political events falls into the tails of this distribution (2.5%). Most people who watch mainstream major networks news, read @nytimes or @WAPO,watch Sunday shows would fall within the 13.5% bands
Although there are certainly some primary voters who hail from the two 34% areas, the bulk of the two party's primary electorates come from the right & left flank of this graph, which means the far left & right are far more extreme than average & even the center and mods are more
conservative and liberal than the average electorate. For all the convo about the Dem primary, polling consistently shows only about 40% of all people who plan to cast ballots in it, people who as a group are already non-representative of the whole country, have watched a debate

There have been significant comments/emails regarding the budget proposal put together by Comm. Boley and I. It is always good to get community engagement on issues. This is one true strength of Lawrence. One thing that I would like everybody to remember 1/20
is that this is just a proposal, it will be up to the full commission to determine if we want to proceed with the modifications or implement other ideas. We are continuing to evaluate the budget and still reviewing the prospect of other options.

Below is background info 2/20
that we considered when reviewing the budget.

The proposed 2020 City Mgr’s budget included covering a $500K deficit in the Parks/Rec fund and $500K deficit in the General Fund. If implemented, it would require that we start charging an entry fee to our Rec facilities and 3/20
