Discussion with my sister/biz partner this AM regarding tariff uncertainty before she heads to Greece today. I asked: How are vendors dealing with uncertainty with bringing inventory from China?
She said, "Some are bringing in extra inventory levels in anticipation of hikes. Others are asking for pre-orders and only guaranteeing prices for the first shipment." I asked, "How are WE dealing with both scenarios?"
I explained that every judo move has a counter move that leads to its counter in an unending dialectical match. For those vendors bringing extra inventory levels-I suggested cutting order size because we resupply in days. Thus, we increase inventory turns.
For those vendors who are cutting their left tail risk on inventory levels, we need to find multiple vendors selling the same/similar product. Vendors cutting their left tail risk unwittingly cut our convex right tail when we find a hit if we cannot get additional inventory.
