Today, I proudly voted to put an end to the Trump Administration’s dangerous plan to auction off up to 90% of our nation’s coastal waters for oil and gas drilling. Offshore drilling poses unacceptable risks for our coastal communities, marine life, and our environment.
At a time when our nation must transition to clean energy alternatives, risking the economic health of our nation’s $180 billion ocean economy and the livelihoods of millions of Americans for a small amount of offshore oil would be a reckless and permanent mistake.
In the event of a major spill, New York's coastal economy stands to lose up to 320k jobs along with billions of dollars generated through the tourism, recreation, & fishing industries. House Dems will continue to stand up for our nation’s coastal economies, wildlife, & climate.
