The so-called Land Border Closure is actually only a partial Closure, not total. It’s a combo of nighttime closure (6pm to 6am I believe) + massively increased surveillance 247, led by @CustomsNG and @nigimmigration in collaboration with Military, @PoliceNG—& coordinated by ONSA.

The partial Land Border Closure is actually a security operation known as Exercise SWIFT RESPONSE - targeting smuggling (rice, petrol, vehicles etc), illegal migration, the flow of illegal arms, etc. Has been on for about a month now, started August 20, 2019.
EXERCISE SWIFT RESPONSE (the partial Border Closure + security surveillance) is ongoing in 4 zones: South West, South South, North Central & North West. So it’s not only the Nigeria-Benin Border that’s affected, actually. Nigeria-Niger and Nigeria-Cameroon borders also affected.
