NEWS In this video we will show that France granted a license for armored vehicles (the Bastion, made by Acmat) to Cameroon, despite widely reported human rights violations by their army. And we will reveal where they were used.
Since 2009 Boko Haram terrorizes the north of Cameroon, Chad and Nigeria. The Rapid Intervention Forces (BIR) of the Cameroon army were sent to protect the population. But they are also caught committing grave human rights violations.
Amnesty International wrote in 2015 how the BIR randomly arrested civilians, and how they tortured and killed them.
Despite these atrocities, the French government approved the license to export 23 armored vehicles to the BIR in 2016. The vehicles were made by Acmat, subsidiary of Arquus.
The BIR uses these vehicles in the north, as we proof and explain in this video:
Principle two of the legally binding Common Position of the EU on arms export states to “deny an export license if there is a clear risk that the military technology or equipment to be exported might be used for internal repression.”
